TECHNICAL | Introduction | Acoustic & Thermal | Frame | Size & Shape | Size and Shape Bespoke modules can be designed to suit individual project requirements. There is no minimum number of modules that represent a threshold below which UMS is uncompetitive, and clearly with a demonstrated capacity of approximately 10,000 modules per year, practically there is no maximum size of project that UMS could not handle. All modular system providers are subject to the width and height constraints of transport loads. These dictate a number of parameters that should be considered as part of the design process. It is critical to know both that it is possible and how the modular components of the building will be shipped to site and lifted into position. The UMS system is inherently flexible and allows for modules to be non-rectangular, with a variety of shapes able to be accommodated as required by the architectural design. This theme represents a critical aspect of UMS’ expert capability because it is important to be able to advise a client and their professional team how a building will be broken down into its constituent parts for the purpose of manufacturing and then being constructed together at site to create the final building form. |
